The Website
KnowHow Café is a web site where you can learn how to be a smart, effective user of the social web. This includes knowing insider tips for using social networks like Twitter and Facebook without falling into a sink hole of lost time, where you can learn to blog, where you can create your own media, and where you can connect with others like you.
Unlike many howto web sites, you can roam freely throughout KnowHow Café! We do not hide our content behind a long sales page that promises to make you rich and sexy.
We do charge a fee for our courses though. Some people can grasp the concepts (available freely on the internet in many cases) while others want the step-by-step instructions, complete with PDFs, audio podcasts, and video tutorials all filtered, tested, and organized for them in one place. We are launching the site with some live classes here in Honolulu, as the demand is high, while we continue building out the online classes. We are very grateful for your patience, though please do feel free to contact us and tell us the topics you want most or anything else that is on your mind!
The People
KnowHow Café is the multi-year culmination of brainstorming sessions between Roxanne Darling and Shane Robinson. We have been web developers and web business consultants since the mid ‘90s, and learned early on what separated us from many of our competitors: attention to detail, obsession with smooth workflow (we hate doing repetitive tasks!), ongoing desire to learn and try new things, a commitment to excellence for our clients, and most of all a deep love for the internet and all its possibilities.
We now see an information-starved populace who is busy trying to run a business, raise a family, and enjoy some good times all while feeling pressured to figure out Twitter, Facebook, and blogging. Technology is supposed to support us, not drive us nuts, right? We want to share all the shortcuts, tools, and tricks we have learned to help you know how to make best use of the Internet in the shortest amount of time. We live in Hawaii - so it’s easy to continuously ask the question: Can we do this more efficiently and get to the beach sooner?
Roxanne loves to travel, speak in public, paddle the 6-person outrigger canoe, and is trying to give up working really long hours. She walks the line between technology and communication with a ballerina’s balance and has a way of inspiring even luddites to try new things online. Please let it be known though, perhaps as a graduate of UC Berkeley, she is not a bystander or interested in the status quo! Here’s a short list about Rox recently:
She was voted #24 of the 50 Most Powerful & Influential Women in Social Media
She is the host of Beach Walks with Rox internet tv show
She is the founder of Podcamp + Wordcamp Hawaii
She is the founder of the Hawaii chapter of Social Media Club
She and Shane are founding members of the Social Media Club parent organization.

Shane is well known as Secret Cameraman on Beach Walks with Rox and is a great dog trainer whose bark is worse than his bite. At work, we think he is a brilliant trouble-shooter and information architect, and with an art degree from the University of Iowa, he adds finesse to all of programming code he writes.
